Zack is very gullible, so I'll be sure to tell him this is a joke. (He posted THIS article to his Facebook page touting the idiocy of Joe Biden before realizing it was, alas, a total joke: http://www.theonion.com/content/news/shirtless_biden_washes_trans_am_in). This was way too funny. One year before we had kids, I decided to buy tickets to the Globetrotters for an awesome Vday surprise. So we went, just the two of us, not knowing what to expect, but definitely not expecting what we saw. I was sorta embarrassed to be one of the only people there without kids, seeing as how the jokes would only be cool to a toddler.

Look at the Globetrotter in the background of the pantsing pic. He's clowning around in a ski mask. I love the Globetrotters. You know the Globetrotter song, the one you whistle? Is that original to them, or did they just make it famous?

Pants on the ground, pants on the ground,
Lookin' like a fool with your pants on the ground.

Hey, get your pants off the ground.

Love,

There clearly is. My father-in-law told me that years ago the Globetrotters offered huge money to Pete Maravitch to become the first white Globetrotter ever. I can't confirm that they've ever had a white player on their roster since then (although one of their founders may have been). On the flip side, the Generals look like the UVSC basketball team. There is definitely a racial subtext there, though it's not made explicit. That the team is not officially anti-white is made very clear by the fact that their list of 'Honorary Globetrotters" includes not only Whoopi Goldberg and Jessie Jackson, but Bob Hope and Pope John Paul II as well. Would love to see that group out on the floor.

Troy, so so so funny. (But seriously, is there some racial sub-text to the Globetrotters/Generals?)

Whenever there are calls for Reparation, I just think of the Globetrotters humiliating the Generals night in and night out all over the country and I think "isn't that enough?".

Davis, read the NY Times article I linked to. It's awesome. The more you delve into the history of the Washington Generals and their relationship with the Globetrotters, the more you love these organizations.

One other fun fact (perhaps the awesomest fact I have heard in at least a year): There once was a basketball player who wanted to go pro, but was prohibited from doing so because he had left college early. In order to keep up his skills for the year waiting period, he became a Globetrotter.

Who was it? A guy by the name of Wilt Chamberlain. Who cool is that? Can you see Kobe doing that?
